Article:
Wedding with themes are more memorable. This is because it will not be just another wedding but one that is filled with creativity as well as uniqueness. You can have humorous, cultural, seasonal, venue-inspired or crazy theme all these are up to your interpretation as well as creativity.
There are two factors that you should take into account when before choosing a theme. One is accessibility of resources which is the cost of having the theme. A carnival wedding theme will only come to life with having a carnival so how much will it cost you? The second factor is accessibility of material. This would refer to decorating materials for your theme. For instance, having spring wedding in autumn will require a lot of fresh flowers. This will be fairly expensive to have during autumn.
There are a few types of wedding themes and they are:
- Seasonal themes – The theme is based on the four season which is spring, summer, autumn and winter. Winter wedding would probably be held with snow as a décor as the spring wedding would heavily use flowers preferably fresh ones. Sunset wedding is also a theme that falls into seasonal theme wedding. This is usually done at the beach during sunset.
- Venue-inspired themes. This is the kind of wedding the uses the venue as the theme. Such themes are the beach wedding, castle wedding and garden wedding.
- Cultural themes. It is interesting to see the different culture and through cultural theme wedding, guests are invited to experience them. Some popular cultural theme weddings are Indian summer wedding, Scottish wedding or Eastern wedding. Cultural wedding is usually adopted when it is a cross-cultural wedding.
- Humorous themes – mainly to inject fun into the ceremony and reception. Fancy dress themes like the Retro theme, The Seventies, Halloween, Medieval Times and The Wild West are amongst the almost limitless range of humorous theme weddings one can conjure up.
- Color themes. These are weddings that are based on the bridal couple’s favorite color or colors, as the case may be. Theme weddings such as these may end up even in Goth or psychedelic themes.
- Extreme weddings. Extereme weddings are gaining popularity these days and usually, those who do opt for them will make it in the news. These are the types of weddings that adventurous and outdoor type of couple would go for and examples of them are underwater weddings, bungee-jumping points or mid-air weddings.
Carrying out theme weddings successfully greatly depend on your creativity – both in creating the themes and acquiring the materials to create the themes. Improvisation is the keyword in sourcing the necessary décor materials for such theme weddings. If it is not possible to paint the walls of your reception venue, then cover it with the appropriate disposable wallpaper. Just make sure you have the permission from the venue owners first!
To choose the perfect wedding theme, it is best that you evaluate your preference as well as your spouse’s preference. That is why most chosen themes would be based on lifestyles and hobbies or even background. Favorite hobbies like dancing can be a very good theme and a couple who loves dancing can use their creativity to truly turn their wedding into something they both and guests will remember forever.
You may have met your spouse because you are both in the same career. If this is the case, themes based on careers are also great for you to adopt. For example, couples who are both in the entertainment industry can have a lounge wedding. Those who are in the line of finance can go for Money themed wedding. You can also make it more interesting by having a career themed wedding that is totally different that your own.
If it is too difficult to merge two different careers, then pick a common interest – a love for cars, for instance, or a compulsion to travel.
When you choose a theme, remember, a great one is the one that is meaningful to both of you. It is one of the biggest day in your life so strive to make is a memorable one.
