The Peanuts holiday DVD collection features three classic Peanuts television specials. Its The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown has recently been released by itself, and A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and A Charlie Brown Christmas will soon be available individually on October 7th. Its the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown and Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown are also available, rounding out the Peanuts holiday DVD collection. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving premiered in 1973 and was the first special that was based on an original script instead of being based off of a comic strip. This one of the Peanuts holiday DVD collection begins with Charlie Brown attempting, as always, to kick Lucys football, then the story deals with Peppermint Patty inviting herself, Marcy, and Franklin over to Charlie Browns house for Thanksgiving dinner. Linus tells Charlie Brown that he should make dinner, but Charlie Brown says that all he can make is cold cereal and maybe toast. They proceed anyway, creating a meal of buttered toast, popcorn, jellybeans, and pretzel sticks. The adventures that Snoopy and Woodstock have as they set the dinner table and make toast for the dinner is just one of the memorable moments that fill the Peanuts holiday DVD collection. An included bonus special that is available in this installation of the Peanuts holiday DVD collection is The Mayflower Voyagers, the first episode from the This Is America, Charlie Brown miniseries that aired in 1988 and 1989. The kids in the Peanuts gang play pilgrims who are going to the colonies, but the thing that is very odd in this part of the Peanuts holiday DVD collection is seeing them interacting with adult characters. The all new featurette Popcorn & Jellybeans: Making a Thanksgiving Classic continues in the tradition of previous Peanuts holiday DVD releases, providing great details and explanations into the making of the special. In it, we hear Mrs. Schulz saying that Charles was against Charlie Brown kicking Lucys football because thats not funny. You know, once he kicks the football the whole thing is over. Of course, that is exactly what happened years later in Its Magic, Charlie Brown, which is paired with Its the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown Another installment of the Peanuts holiday DVD collection is A Charlie Brown Christmas, and this was the first Peanuts special. It deals with Charlie Brown not understanding the holiday because hes discouraged with commercialization and selfishness, especially in his own family. Charlie Brown goes in search of a Christmas tree and finds a pathetic tiny tree with falling needles. Naturally, it does not go over well when he brought it back. Linus then gives a speech on the true meaning of Christmas. The special won an Emmy and a Peabody award, bringing posterity to the entire line of Peanuts holiday DVD collection.
